It is with great sadness that the family of HL Culbreth announces his passing from this life on May 26, 2019. He was born on July 6, 1951 in Winston-Salem to Harold and Aileen Culbreth, who preceded him in death. He spent the last 5 years at Carolina Beach, his happy place, where he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his old "fishing cronies." He earned the title from his fishing friends as "Drum King," and "Shark Whisperer." HL also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. He retired from a career in the electrical field where he worked in sales. He is survived by his wife, Libby Culbreth, of Wilmington; his children, John Lemly (Kathy McAdams) of Lexington, NC, Scott Lemly (Amy Lemly) of Archdale, NC, Tracy Smith (Pat Smith) of Kernersville, NC, Barry Smith (April Smith) of Kernersville, NC. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Holden Smith (Maddy Smith), Rebekah Lemly, Courtney Smith, Buddy Lemly, Brian Lemly, Alex Lemly, Kayden Lemly, and one soon to be great-grandchild, Lane Smith. HL is preceded in death by his sister, Sandra West. Memorial Services will be held for friends and family in Kernersville at Union Cross Baptist Church on Sunday June 2, 2019 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
