Margaret Smith Ballard, 68, passed away peacefully Thursday August 29, 2019.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00PM Monday September 2, 2019 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Myles Pitts officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home.

A native of Pike County, KY, Margaret was a loving wife to Jerry H. Ballard for 50 years, and the daughter of the late Mart Thomas Smith and Lucille Damron Abbott. Those who knew Margaret would describe her as an avid shopper who never met a stranger as well as a cheerful giver to those whom she loved. She always put others before herself.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, Jerry H. Ballard of the home, and her children, Dana S. Ballard of Greensboro, NC, Nanette B. McGee and husband, Brad of Colfax, NC, Jeremy H. Ballard and wife, Leigh-Anna of Greensboro, NC, Janet B. Bennett and husband, Kelly of Walnut Cove, NC, and Jessica R. Ballard of Kernersville, NC. She was a wonderful Grandma to her grandchildren, Joshua R. Ballard, Stacie Beth McGee, Brandon D. McGee, Mark W. McGee, Carson C. Ballard, B. Sterling Bennett, and Noah J. Bennett; great grandchildren, Anna Rose Stafford, Garrett Rayne Stafford, and Levi Daniel McGee; sisters, Emma Allen of Winston-Salem, NC, Judy Moore of Walnut Cove, NC, and Debbie Chapman of Winston-Salem, NC; and brother, John T. Smith of Advance, NC.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Gray; and brother, George Harrison.

The family requests that all attending her service to please come in casual attire.
