Janice Lynn Bowers (Cooper)

HIGH POINT - Janice Bowers Cooper died on Monday, July 16, 2018, at Hospice Home of High Point.

She was born in Winston-Salem on November 8, 1950, the daughter of Wilbur Franklin Bowers and Marie Lawing Bowers. Janice graduated from Western Carolina University in 1974 and worked as an Art Teacher in Greenville, SC schools from 1974 to 1982 and in the middle and high schools of Thomasville, NC from 1982 to 2004. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Wesley Sunday School class in High Point.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, N. Carter Cooper and her father, W. F. Bowers.

 Janice is survived by her devoted mother, Marie Bowers; brothers Jerry Bowers (Jill-Marie) of Richmond, David Bowers (Darenda) of High Point and James Bowers (Dee) of Wake Forest and thirteen beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the Epworth Room at First United Methodist Church, 512 North Main Street, High Point, NC from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018. Following the visitation, the funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Pastor Debra Swing officiating. Burial will follow at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 2817 Abbotts Creek Church Road, High Point, NC.

The family wishes to thank the many doctors, nurses and staff at High Point Regional Cancer Center and The Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center that lovingly cared for Janice over the past eight years. The family also wishes to thank the members of the Wesley class and the entire church family of First United Methodist Church, as well as the compassionate staff of Hospice of the Piedmont.

I do remember Janice from school, but also my bus route, she rode the bus I drove. She was very nice young lady, very quiet. I remember when they were building her new house, it seemed to take forever to build it and when it was done, so big and beautiful. Rest in peace dear classmate, fly high with the Eagles!! God blessing on family.

So sorry to learn of the passsing of a good friend...I know these last few years have been difficult...it makes me very sad to say goodbye to her...I will always have fond memories of happier times.
