Obediah Koontz Obituary
Obediah Franklin Koontz, Jr., 70, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019. Born to Obediah Franklin Koontz, Sr. and Sarah Heath Koontz on March 22, 1949, he served in the US Army and later worked as a toolmaker at Turbo Care, formerly Westinghouse. He leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his wife, Norma Rae Vogler Koontz; his son, Chad Franklin Koontz; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy Koontz Tilley and Jared and Heather Rae Koontz Wagoner and Donnie; one sister, Debbie Koontz Corbin; and seven grandchildren, Emery Mae Koontz, Reese Franklin Koontz, Camryn Elise Tilley, Caylie Rae Tilley, Addie Cora Tilley, Ashton Leigh Tilley and Celsey Morgon Tilley. He was preceded in death by two grandsons; Donnie Gray Wagoner and Heath Ray Wagoner. A graveside service will be held, Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 4:30 PM at the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. Mount Airy VFW post # 2019 and Pilot Mountain VFW Post # 9436 will be in attendance honoring the service of Mr. Koontz, with military honors. Bishop Jeff Simmons and Harris Gupton will be officiating the service. Memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home of Dobson or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation and thanks for all the comforting support over the past months.
