Joy was such a special person. She will be greatly missed. I attended her and her Dad's funeral service which was very sweet. Joy's husband spoke at the funeral and did a wonderful job. I have known Joy all of my life and she was also smiling. I'm glad she is not suffering anymore.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Vickie Sloan and her dad, Bill Manuel. I am sure that your hearts are breaking with the loss of two loved ones only hours apart. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Vicky Flynn Luffman, East Forsyth High School, Class of 1969

IT IS SO SAD WHEN SUCH A WONDERFUL PERSON LEAVES US AT AN EARLY AGE. I ALWAYS THOUGHT A LOT OF JOY, SHE WAS ALWAYS SO FRIENDLY; AND HAD A SMILE FOR EVERYONE. SHE WILL DEFINITELY BE MISSED BY MANY FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES. SHE CAME FROM SUCH A SPECIAL FAMILY, AND THEY HAVE MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY.

I am so sorry to learn of Joy's passing. We had many great memories together through our 12 years of school. I spent the night at her home several times, especially our junior and senior years when my mother was so very sick with breast cancer. What a friend she was to me during those days when I was so scared of losing my mother. I will never forget her and I will always miss her!

Joy was one of the best friends I have ever had. I was with her only a few days before her death. She was so courageous and kept a positive spirit until the very end. I think of Joy often and what fun we had as teenagers. Her family felt like my extended family. They still do. I'll always miss Joy. She holds a special place in my heart.
