Michael Hillary Pierce, 70, died early Tuesday morning, May 25, 2021 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Michael was born on May 1, 1951 in Forsyth County to the late Hillary Lee and Dorothy Preston Pierce. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and was retired from Timco/Haeco with 27 ½ years of service. Michael also worked for McLean Trucking Co. for 16 years, Carolina and Western Trucking, as well as Powerscreen of Carolina. He was a graduate of East Forsyth High School and Piedmont Aerospace Institute. Michael was a lifetime NRA member who loved fishing and shooting and was an avid marksman. He was a lifetime founding member, with 22 years of service, of the Salem Chapel Volunteer Fire Dept., having served as both assistant chief and a term of 10 years as chief of the department. Michael enjoyed astronomy and camping. He believed in hard work and spent his time on the family farm using his heavy equipment. Michael’s greatest love was his family.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Allen Pierce; and half sister, Selina Jane Pierce Hunt.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Cherylene Shelton Pierce; 2 children, Michelle Pierce Brock (Michael) and Michael H. Pierce, II; daughter in law, Heather Pierce; 3 grandchildren, Laura Ashley Brock, Steven Hadley Brock, and Michael Shane Pierce; 2 sisters, Leigh Ann Pierce Triplette (Randy) and Jennifer Kay Shroyer (Jamie Bullins); brother, Joseph Gorrell Pierce; half sister, Carla Ann Pierce; half brother, Clifford Lee Pierce; best friends, Danny Thomas, Gary Dunn, Elaine Tesh, Richard Shroyer, and Peter Biller; and his special canines, Petey and Rosie.
There will be a 7:00 pm celebration of life service held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Burroughs Chapel with Pastor Herb Mabe officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 5-7 pm at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Social distancing guidelines will be observed, and facial coverings are required.
